Don’t let this cost you
New newsletter every week
When you’ve dealt with troubles or trauma struggling becomes not what scares you… things being easy is.
You have endured pain, you have laid with strife, but something easy became foreign.
You question it, waiting for the shoe to drop. You expect it, and the anxiety of that can be torturous.
This is where self-sabotage comes in.
Our brains are wired for habitual behaviors, unfortunately, even if that behavior is struggle.
My situation isn’t extreme by any measure, but I realize I do it as well.
I wanted to do paid subscriptions on Substack six months ago and gave myself every excuse not to.
“I just can’t make the time right now with working.”
“It had worked for other people, but it may not work for me.”
It feels productive doing research, wanting everything to be perfect, but there’s no such thing.
This only increases procrastination and keeps you stagnant.
I was self-sabotaging because I feared the outcome, so I just made the outcome nothing.
I also overcomplicated it a lot.
I kept watching YouTube videos. Asking other writers about their experiences. Watching TED Talks instead of just doing it.
Getting out of my head and onto what I know is a goal of mine.
This experience has strengthened my confidence in the time, value, and newsletters I’m creating because no matter how hard you try, your dreams will haunt you.
Every newsletter I put out is meant to inform, inspire, and make people feel something.
I talk about my personal experiences not for sympathy, even though I appreciate the kind words, but to prevent someone else from going through what I did.
On May 23 at 10PM EST, paid subscriptions go live.
